To increase the accuracy of the diagnosis and to be safe, imaging techniques must be combined with fine-needle aspiration. Generally, fine needle aspiration cytology is not performed because the lipoma can be totally removed with the capsule by minor surgery and the difficulty of undergoing procedures investigation is saved. There is no specific medical care for lipoma but only surgical management.

The analysis of the complementary results provided by fetal RM imaging has been realized. All results were correlated with postnatal imaging and clinical outcomes. Liposarcomas are true malignant tumors of the mesenchyme. The result and the prognosis are excellent for the benign lipomas. Recurrent is rare but can occur if excision is incomplete. Large, rubbery lipomas are usually solitary. 60% are associated with an identifiable chromosomal abnormality, while patients with multiple small lipomas on the chest, arms, and legs often have family history and there are no chromosomal changes. Under the microscope, lipoma cells resemble ordinary fat cells. They may have a thin capsule around them, which the surgeon will try to dissolve without the skin and surrounding tissues to try to pull out all the lipoma cells.
